Stay Woke

Stay Woke

As day turns to night

I write beneath the moonlight.

Which is a different type of vibe

Which attracts a different type of tribe.

My nocturnal comrades

Aka, my night school grads.

Who possess street knowledge, as well as book knowledge

So much so they all could be Deans of any well-known college.

See, living life is much more than wrong or right

Or black and white

We need to be wise enough to know when to walk away or stand and fight.

Proper balance results from possessing an open mind

See, there’s a thin line

Between what’s yours and what’s mine.

So much so that it can barely be seen

But what will be seen is us living our dreams.

But only if we come together and stay together.

Don’t fail society’s test

See, no one can be better if we’re both doing our best.

Just continue to contend

With that little voice within

That’s attempting to convince you defeating me is the only way you can win.

Like Tupac once said, “These are the realest words I ever wrote

These are the truest words I ever spoke”

How can they trick us to stay asleep, if we hunger to stay woke?

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge my offering. May all you deserve and desire flow abundantly into your life, as a river does into a sea.

Remember. I’m not here to convince you to believe. I’m here to offer you something else to consider.

May we never lose our desire to outdo what we’ve already done.

Peace, Love, and the utmost Respect.
