Purple Passion

Paying homage to a legend

How could we ever forget a person who helped us to know we can do whatever it is we desire?-Henery X

When doves cry is what the Artist formerly known as Prince sung. Nice song, but a better singer of the song in question. Skills trump talent, but the talented way he displayed his skills immortalized him in the hearts and minds of a multitude. My favorite song? Sign O’ The Times. “In fact a skinny man died from a big disease with a little name…,” what a way to start a song. What follows is me paying homage to his Royal Purpleness, who literally changed the music industry.

In 1999, The Most Beautiful Girl In The World pulled up in her Little Red Corvette, wearing a Raspberry Beret and said, “Let’s Pretend We’re Married.” And shortly after the fact, we made love as the Purple Rain fell oh so gently outside. We never gave a second thought to the Controversy our impulsive act would cause. I asked her to Call My Name, and she did so… many times. Afterwards, I said, “Take Me With You, Darling Nikki.” And she said, “I would if I could, but Baby I’m A Star. It was fun.” Then she drove off into the night. And I said, “The Beautiful Ones hurt you every time.”

*If you didn’t know, the highlighted areas in the offering are titles from some of Prince’s most popular songs.

I don’t live in the past. I don’t play my old records for that reason. I make a statement, then move on to the next.-Prince Rogers Nelson

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge my offering. May all you deserve and desire flow abundantly into your life, as a river does into a sea.

Remember. I’m not here to convince you to believe. I’m here to offer you something else to consider.

Continue to be a lighthouse for all those who feel lost in the sea of life.

May we never lose our desire to outdo what we’ve already done.

Peace, Love, and the utmost Respect.
