Without question ignorance is our greatest enemy. The simplest and most respectful definition of the word in question is: "to not know." Now, to not know something is deeper than it sounds. We can know something, but it can be incorrect or our understanding of it may be incorrect. The primary purpose of information is to eventually have it work in our favor. The only way something has a chance of working in our favor is if it's correct and our understanding of it is correct. We all have been misled during our lives. This was done unintentionally, as well as intentionally. It has been said the first step towards solving a problem is admitting there is one. So, it's time we stop denying the truth an opportunity to lead us out of darkness, and into the light.
Most of the people who unintentionally led us astray had no idea they were doing so. They were just sharing the portions of understanding they were made to believe were true. The shared understandings were shared by people they trusted, and who obtained it, in the same manner. The cycle of misunderstanding is continued for generations, and until someone begins to question questionable things. One of the worst things we could ever do is receive information and just run with it. We need to look past the source (parents, grandparents, siblings, friends), and begin to focus on the roots of the information. The roots represent the initial source, and the initial source needs to be investigated thoroughly. In the investigation process we should focus on how much harm or good came about overall. If the harm outweighs the good, this is information we should disregard immediately. Cycles of being misled are broken by offering other information to consider, and that’s the complete opposite of what was once the norm.
Now, for those who intentionally led and lead us astray. These are people who have agendas that don't align with our best interests. Their objective is to use us for personal gain. They overstand (no room for misunderstanding) if we don't know any better, we can be made to believe anything. Their power is our lack of not knowing, as well as not having a desire to know something else. One of their most effective tactics is to create false narratives and have well-known individuals push them as truth. Shame on them for such behavior, but shame on us as well for not questioning questionable information. At some point we'll need to start pointing the finger inward. We're not blameless in this world we live on. We should never give someone the power to influence our thinking without first investigating what's being shared.
There was a powerful saying in days gone by, and it's strength is still relevant to this day. The saying in question is: "The mind is a terrible thing to waste."
Thought is literally the beginning, continuation, and end of everything that is, was, and will ever be. Everything we see, hear, touch, taste, and smell results from thought. When we think, believe, and put forth the necessary action, more often than not, our desires are made tangible. So, let us begin to think and believe we can be better by doing better. Let us begin to stop making excuses, and start making plans to question everything, including our answers.
Desire + A lack of action = Disappointment and Regret.
