The Climb

My First Ever Sonnet

9-7-9

Photo by Brad Barmore on Unsplash

I start my climb with this one thought, finish

Along the way, I saw fear

Fear said, “To fall is what I see for you”

Then old doubt kicked at me

But I was too focused to be bothered

Then failure said, “get rope burn”

Last but not least, frustration was a beast

He started tugging my rope

But his efforts only had him fall fast

At the tip top I danced

Then I reached out a helping hand quick

To those with a hateful heart

Because I know hurt people hurt people

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge my offering.

May we never lose our desire to outdo what we’ve already done.
