Just My Imagination

A poem

Just My Imagination

I arrived at the Hotel California in Detroit, Michigan at five after nine And shortly after the fact, I stopped and screamed, “Captain! Bring me my wine.” But no one pays me any attention because this outburst occurred in my mind

It's an inside joke

Because I don't even drink or smoke Who am I? An Eagle flying high and free And I thought to myself, “Is there really any other way to be?”

As I resumed my soul stroll, several women gave me the eye And licked their lips as if I were vanilla ice cream and a slice of hot apple pie But I regarded myself as a seven course meal And you would have to if you had been dressed to kill But there would be no murders popping off tonight Because my good vibes were going to ensure hate and animosity were nowhere in sight I asked a man standing near did he feel what I was saying or were his thoughts quadriplegic Thinking being standoffish was quite strategic This was a celebration And all signs were pointing towards outrageously exciting situations So, I said, “You're in the wrong place Like a man with no legs in a foot race”

Anywho The dance floor was jumping like a bounce house Cool cats and cute kitties were cutting a rug While the street level pharmacist was peddling his array of exotic drugs The entire scene Was like a vivid dream Then I saw a drama queen Who made me feel like the lion king And then I said, “Let me step to her and do my thing” As I approached, she rolled her beautiful hazel eyes And my eyes eyed her thick thighs Which made my nature slowly rise But before I could utter a word, she turned and walked away As if she had concluded I had nothing worth hearing to say My confidence was dead and gone Though I was in a sea of people, I felt oh so all alone And as I turned to make my way home I heard her say, “I’m not an easy catch Oh, you think you’re the shit. Well baby, you've just met your match” And I said in a low tone “Game on”

Then I turned and started checking her out like emails on my cell phone She had been playing hard to get A French poodle versus an American pit We finally found a peaceful place to sit And before the event was said and done We walked away hand in hand, ready to live our life on the run

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge my offering. May all you deserve and desire flow abundantly into your life, as a river does into a sea.

Remember. I’m not here to convince you to believe. I’m here to offer you something else to consider.

May we never lose our desire to outdo what we’ve already done.

Continue to be a lighthouse for all those who feel lost in the sea of life.

Peace, Love, and the utmost Respect.
