A short story

Fathers, continue to give your daughters examples to measure men by. Keep your standards high, so theirs will never be low. — Henery X

“Tonight, you will have a visitor,” The Most High said.
“Really?” I replied.
“Yes.”
“Can you give me a clue on what’s expected of me?”
“You will know exactly what to do, my son.”
There was a knock at the front door. I walked over and opened it. There stood a little girl of about seven years of age.
“Hi, Daddy,” she said in the sweetest manner. As she looked up at me smiling, I looked down at her, doing likewise.
“Where’s your mother, little one?”
“Oh, I have no clue. God just told me you are my daddy.”
As I thought back to who could be her mother, my mind drew a complete blank. But I remembered something I wrote a few years ago, which was, “A real father is one who helps a child to become a responsible adult. And the child doesn’t have to be his own.” I closed the door and the little girl and I moved over to the sofa.
“So, what’s your name, little one?”
“God called me Nefertiti. He said I was going to grow up and be a mighty queen, thanks to my daddy’s guidance.”
“And God told you the truth, Nefertiti.”
Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge my offering. May all you deserve and desire flow abundantly into your life, as a river does into a sea.
Remember. I’m not here to convince you to believe. I’m here to offer you something else to consider.
May we never lose our desire to outdo what we’ve already done.
Continue to be a lighthouse for all those who feel lost in the sea of life.
Peace, Love, and the utmost Respect.

I wanted more from this story because the dialogue was interesting. I expected the conversation to unfold with years of wisdom imparted to little Nefertiti.
