Before I began my creative writing journey over twenty-nine years ago, there was one thing I knew for certain, which was—I didn’t want to create content like anyone else.

As long as I can remember, I’ve never been a fan of trends. In days gone by, I hungered to be different. I just didn’t see the logic in dressing or acting like everyone else. As I grew older, this mentality became an obsession. And now, I strive to stand out from the crowd in everything I do.

My creative writing journey began with me being an avid reader. In the beginning, my preferred content was fiction. I loved the fact that it offered me a temporary escape from reality. Later on, I would incorporate non-fiction content into the mix. Shortly after the fact, I began analyzing what I was reading. The goal was to discover why I was so drawn to this brand of content. I concluded it was because it made me think. There were opinions and perspectives I never considered, and this fascinated me, especially the perspectives. For those not in the know, perspectives derive from firsthand experience, while opinions are based on personal feelings. It would be various and specific perspectives that would eventually open up my once closed mind. Once my mind was open to perpetual possibilities, my life changed for the best. My decision making produced the desired result more often than not. I documented my experiences so I could study them at a later date. In the beginning, I wanted to enhance my thinking by identifying areas for improvement. And as life got better, I thought, why not start sharing my experiences with the world via the written word?

Before I really started sharing my writing, I went to social media in search of the primary reason people came there. I conducted experiments only I knew of. I was sharing offerings that reflected the way I intended to write forever. The goal was to see what attracted the most attention. After almost a year of this, I concluded that the average person wanted to be enlightened. So, enlightenment became my major theme but, it wasn’t all I offered. I overstand (no room for misunderstanding) the value of variety. No one should ever want to be predictable, because this is a sure fired way to become forgettable. Besides content meant to enlighten the readers, I also offered a means to be encouraged and entertained as well.

My three “E” formula derived from my research of what made up best-selling books and block-buster movies. So I chose specific movies and books to see what they all had in common. They were all encouraging, they were all enlightening, and they were all entertaining. And right then, I established the way I would write my words.

My primary goal with writing and sharing what’s written is to help the reader recognize, embrace, and take full advantage of their greatness. If I can accomplish this goal with just one person daily, then all the time and energy invested in attempting to do so will have been well worth it. For me, true success is measured by how many lives we help change for the best. So, I always ensure I write with purpose on purpose.

May your success continue to exceed your highest expectations.

Remember. I'm not here to convince you to believe. I'm here to offer you something else to consider.
